Winter, 2003
The movie that started it all, Pinhead Hunter was the vision of two telemark skiers from the midwest that launched a new way to make telemark movies. Gone are the movies that just show tele skiing to music, Pinhead Hunter is a comedy about a hunter searching a ski hill called Mount Bohemia in the upper peninsula of Michigan for pinheads he can catch. An instant classic, Pinhead Hunter not only shows the funny side of telemark skiing, but shows off the great skiing the upper peninsula has to offer. Jason Manders first thought of the idea, and then Jason and Chris developed the story. All shooting was done gorilla style, and one of the best scenes is shot is a gas station in Houghton, MI. The scene was meant to shot in the local grocery store, but the manager would not allow it. The college kid working the gas station on the other hand had no problem with letting us get our shot. He even agreed to say a few lines. After the catch scene in the gas station, the release scene is the next best. Seeing a pinhead being released back into the wild is one of the funniest things you will ever see. Throw in a few scenes with a tranquilizer gun and you have a tele ski movie like no other. "Lets go find ourselves some pinheads!"
